Alliance Boots completes acquisition of Depolabo
2 December 2008Alliance Boots, a leading international pharmacy-led health and beauty group, announces the completion of its acquisition of Depolabo, one of the largest providers of pharmaceutical pre-wholesale and contract logistics services in France. The acquisition, which has now been approved by the French competition regulator, will enable Alliance Boots to accelerate the expansion of its pre-wholesale and contract logistics services in Europe.
Depolabo distributes pharmaceutical products to wholesalers, pharmacies and hospitals on behalf of more than 50 manufacturers. It is headquartered in Marseilles, operates four warehouses across France and has approximately 600 employees.
Stefano Pessina, Executive Chairman, Alliance Boots, commented: 'This acquisition allows us to further extend and reinforce the wide range of added-value services we provide to pharmaceutical manufacturers in Europe. It is fully in line with our strategy of strengthening our partnerships with these key stakeholders.'
